Maintaining Information on my.richland.edu

Pages on myRichland that contains reference information, instructions, or downloadable files (essentially, anything more than a link to another system) are typically available for editing by the senior member of the department who manages the information, or their designee.  For instance, pages and information related to the Financial Aid are editable by the Director of Financial Aid.

Editing Pages
Employees who have been granted access to edit content inside myRichland will see a black menu bar at the top of the page after logging in.  When you visit a page that you have access to edit, an Edit Page link will appear on this menu bar, similar to the image below:

Clicking on the Edit Page button will open the website page editor, which allows you to modify the contents of the page as needed.

Uploading Files
Files can be uploaded or removed from the website using the Media Library tool.  To access the media library, click on the myRichland...Dashboard link in the editing menu.  Then click on Media...Library, as shown below:

After uploading a file, you will need to copy its URL in order to add it to a page on the site, or to share it externally.  The URL will be visible after your file upload is complete.

Creating Fancy Links (Info Boxes) with the College Logo
In part, this iteration of myRichland is designed to by a lightweight, mobile-friendly web "portal" that is optimized to support students who are quickly searching for information or links to other systems.  To maintain visual consistency, please use the Information Box content item in the webpage editor when you are creating new links or information anchors.

To create a new information box that matches the existing site setup:  If there is an empty space on an existing row in your page, click on the plus ( + ) button to create a new "block".  If a space is not available, click at the very bottom of the page, then click on the plus ( + ) and select Container... 3 columns to create a new row where additional blocks can be placed.
Then, in the right-hand editing panel, expand the Layout menu and select the "align top" option under Align Items. This will keep your Info Boxes from looking like a jumpled mess.
Then, click on the first plus to create a new block.

Once you have clicked to create your new block, select the Info Box option

In the title area, enter the descriptive title for your item.  If you need to provide details or context, enter your additional information below.  However, if details are not required, expand the Content menu in the right-hand editing panel and disable the Enable Description slider.
To add links at any spot in the title or detail, click on the anchor/chain "link" icon in the context menu and add in your link details.  If you are attempting to link a file that ypu uploaded from the media library, this is where you would place your file's URL.

Finally, in the right-hand editing panel, expand the Image/Icon menu.  Set the Select Source option to Image.  Then, click on Change Image, click on the SiteImages folder on the left-hand side of the selection window, and select the gray "sprout" logo from the list of available images (the name of the file should be monosprout.png).  Click the Select button to exit the window.

Your updates should be complete!  Make sure you click on the blue Save button in the upper right-hand corner of the page to save your changes.

Additional Editing Tips
The myRichland site uses the Gutenberg Editor; it is a moderatly complex site editing tool that cannot easily be explained here.  For additional information on getting started with the editor, please see this article:  https://www.wpbeginner.com/beginners-guide/how-to-use-the-new-wordpress-block-editor/

Creating Forms
The forms on myRichland are very basic, but they are excellent tools to capture simple input that needs to be redirected to an email.  If you need a form for data capture, please submit a support ticket to techservices@richland.edu for assistance; the for editor is not available to most users.
