Sending a FAX

In the event that you need to send a fax to someone outside of the college, you can use the college's email-to-fax gateway.  This service is available to all college employees who have a @richland.edu email address, and should only be used for College business.

To send a fax, you will first want to convert your document or paperwork to PDF.  You can either "print" or save an electronic document to PDF format on your computer, or you can scan a physical file using one of the multifunction scanner/copier/printers that are located throughout campus.

Once you have your document in PDF format, you will email it to the college's fax gateway.  To do so, follow these steps:

1. Using you college email account, create a new email.

2. In the To: field, enter the phone number (without dashes).  Then append @srfax.com to the end of the phone number.  As an example, to send a fax to 1-888-473-2963, you would enter an email address of 18884732963@srfax.com

3. In the Subject: field, enter the fax subject line that you want to appear on your fax cover page

4. Optionally, in the body of the email, enter any additional information that you want to appear on the fax cover page

5. Attach the PDF copy of your document to the email

When complete, your email should look similar to this:

6. Send your email.  It will be forwarded to the gateway for processing.  It will take approximately 10 minutes for your fax to be processed & sent.

7. After your fax has been sent, you will receive an email confirmation that the process is complete.  If your fax cannot be sent for any reason, you will receive an email notifying you of the error.
